My new bffs.
a wee update: summer songwriting
Since the release of Keys & Machines last fall, there hasn’t been a lot of songwriting in your friendly neighborhood washroom studio. A semi-conscious break to work on other projects and funtimez. But also, after five records, it felt important to take a step back.
But this week, I dusted off my old bff Garageband and started writing. I am happy to report that my fears of OMGIWILLNEVERWRITEANOTHERSONGAGAIN were unfounded. A lot of what’s surfacing is a whole lot of poop but I am reminded of the wise words of a friend: You need to let yourself make the bad art to get to the good art.
Direction-wise, it’s too early to tell where things are heading but I will say that I am obsessed with distorting.absolutely.everything. You can thank Sleigh Bells for that.
So that’s my wee update. Hope you are having a great summer! Or maybe you are like me and counting down the days until fall because crazy heat makes you a cranky old auntie.
xoxoVS
PS If you don’t own this record, you should.
